  1.                    CHICAGO GANGLAND INSTRUCTIONS
  2.  
  3. Object-
  4.      The object of Chicago Gangland is to have the strongest gang on
  5. the streets. To do this you must offer protection to the storeowners of
  6. different blocks, buy moonshine operations, and be fierce with your
  7. opponents.
  8.  
  9.                             Main Menu
  10.  
  11. Quit to the BBS-
  12.      Saves all game files and returns you to the BBS
  13.  
  14. Shootout-
  15.      This command allows you to attack anyone's gang who is at the
  16. same block that you are at. After selecting this command you will be given
  17. a list of all ganglords at your block, you then type in the name of the
  18. ganglord that you wish to attack. Both yours and your opponent's gang will
  19. be shown with three selections: Return to continue, K to Kill and Q to
  20. Quit. If you select Return one round of the attack will occur and you will
  21. be able to see the results, you may continue to hit Return to view each
  22. round or make another selection. If you select K then the entire fight
  23. will transpire without you making any more selections (Caution: when you
  24. select K you CANNOT stop the fight either). Finally if you select Q then
  25. you have run from the fight and can continue to make the rest of your
  26. moves. If you defeat another ganglord then you will gain control of his 
  27. moonshine operations for your efforts.

  29. Offer protection to the storeowners-
  30.      When you make this selection you need to be at a block that is
  31. currently not under protection. After making this selection you will be
  32. asked to how many gangmembers that you would like to leave. You can leave
  33. all of your gangmembers if you wish but it is not recommended. At the
  34. beginning of each day you will recieve your protection money for that
  35. previous night. As long as you protect that block you will continue to
  36. receive protection money. You earn $200/day per block protected.
  37.  
  38. Change the amount of protection at this block-
  39.      With this command you can add or subtract the amount of
  40. protection you are leaving at the current block.
  41.  
  42. Hit the protected block of another gang-
  43.      This command allows you to attack the protection of the current
  44. block that was left by another gang. Your gang and your opponent's
  45. protection will be shown with three selections: Return to continue, K     
  46. to Kill and Q to Quit. If you select Return one round of the attack will  
  47. occur and you will be able to see the results, you may continue to hit    
  48. Return to view each round or make another selection. If you select K then 
  49. the entire fight will transpire without you making any more selections

  55. Move to another block-
  56.      After selecting this command you will be prompted with the word
  57. North. Enter a number between 1 and 25 then you will also be prompted with
  58. the word East, again enter a number between 1 and 25. The numbers you
  59. enter are the streets that you want to go to. For example if you first
  60. enter 6 then enter 11 you will move to the block at the corner of sixth
  61. North street and eleventh East street. Moving to First North and First 
  62. East will put you at The Southside Pool Hall, this is explained further 
  63. on in the instructions.

  65. Gangland Scores-
  66.      This selection will display the top ten ganglords and their
  67. scores.
  68.  
  69. Chicago Daily News-
  70.      This will display the last seven Chicago Daily Newspapers
  71. beginning with the current edition.

  76. Your Statistics-
  77.      This will display all of your current statistics.

  80.            (Pool Hall located at 1 North, 1 east)

  83.             (Casino located at 25 North, 25 East)

  85. Move-
  86.      Exactly like the move command under the main menu.
  87.  
  88. Hire new Gangmembers-
  89.    (Gangmembers can be hired at The Pool Hall or The UnderWorld casino)
  90.      This selection is to hire new gangmembers from the thugs hanging
  91. out at the pool hall or Casino. The price for hiring a new gangmember is
  92. randomly determined when you first make this selection. After making this
  93. selection the price to hire them will NEVER go down for the remainder of
  94. your turns.

  96. Gamble at a game of pool- (Available at the Pool Hall only.)
  97.      This selection allows you to gamble at a game of pool with one
  98. of the thugs hanging around. Be aware that these "gentlemen" are spending
  99. their day here and are good players.
  100.  
  101. Buy a moonshine operation-  (Available at the pool Hall only)
  102.      There are several enterprising men here who are willing to sell
  103. you an available operation. Moonshine operation cost $5000 and earn
  104. $500 per day.
  105.  
  106. Play a hand of Blackjack- (Available at the Casino only.)
  107.      Sit at a table and play Blackjack one on one with the Underworld
  108. dealer. You can win a lot, or lose a lot! $500 max bet.
  109.  
  110. Try the slot machine- (Available at the casino only.)
  111.      Take a pull on the slot machine! Win up to 3 times your bet!
  112. $500 dollar max bet.
  113.  
  114. Quit to the BBS-
  115.      Saves the current game statistics and exits the game. NOTE:When
  116. quitting from the pool hall a new location for you will be randomly
  117. determined.
